Hi All,
Would need a suggestion / advice. Our cmpy conducts appraisal for a period of 6mths.
For Eg :
If an employees X joins us on the 1-Jan-07 his probation confirmation & increment is given by the 1-Jul-07, considering that the no. of days of leaves taken is only 5 & his performance to be fine.
If an employees Y joins us on the 1-Jan-07 his probation confirmation & increment which is due by the 1-Jul-07, is postphoned to 1-Aug-07 as the employee had taken more than 12 days of leaves & his performance is Ok.
Help me to proceed with the next performance review period of Y.
Will it be from 1-Jul-07 to 1-Jan-08 or from 1-Aug-07 to 1-Feb-08 as cmpy insists giving increment only after period of 6mths from the last increment (ie. 1-Feb-08) .

Hi Swarnak,
As per my understanding & experience earned in the field, it should be 1st Jan'08. Ideally, it is not fair to postponed every appraisal of an employee on the basis of one action / deed of him.
For example, in the below mentioned case, employee Y's appraisal was postponed to Aug'07 on the basis of his performance for that period but that performance can't be taken as benchmark for every appraisal.
Hope this would be some help to you.

Thank you Barkha, would also like to know if the same employee Y avails 5 days of leaves during the extended period (ie. form Jul'07 to Aug'07) how do we give him/her an increment & assess the performance.

Hi swarnak
What i would suggest you is that you should change your policy
in case Y takes more than 5 leaves rather posponing his appraisal
you should reduce the amount of appraisal
and can set the slabs for the same
but shifting appraisal eerytime will make system more complicated
and will alsi demotivate the employee
bye n tc
