Importance of ID cards in a company

Hi All,

I would like to know the importance of using ID cards in an IT and non IT company.

In my office many of the staffs are not using the ID cards,when he /she is asked to wear the ID cards then they are counter questioning that what is the use of wearing an ID card in the company, some of the staff who recently joined our company are from IBS and accenture....and when those people who comes from such a professional company ask such sort of questions ......really feel pity for them......So please HR's help me out.........

Hi,

ID cards are for identity of a person and more over it is a part and parcel of HR policies. When we talk about professionalism, everything comes into play........startin from the dress code, behaviour, attitude and also the ID cards.

More over in our comp it is must for us to use ID cards and the reason for tat is the delegates or the customers who come from outside to visit our campus.....

most of the external people will not ask about the persons name, instead dey peep into the ID card, That is how it works....................

When people doesnt listen to us then we shld make them to listen...for eg. if you attach the ID card with the Access card then it is must for them to carry tat....atleast to swipe attendence and to chek in their in and out timings.....

The importance of ID Cards are taken in major consideration both in the office/office campus and outside the campus [public places].

The ID Cards, signifies the employee branding and his respect in the work culture they work for. For example, In our org, it is mandatory for every one to have ID Cards either in neck or in belt fix fashion. Since I do work in the core systems of Google, it is equally imp to have my ID Card, Bio Metric Card and GPRS Navigation Hand Held Device with me.

The importance of ID card can be carried out by you, to make it mandatory to link it with your Employee Performance Report. Make it compulsory to have ID Cards during working hours or to have ID Cards during Meetings or any subordinates visit to senior.

Dear Nancy, Other issue might be, that your ID Cards design must to in-attractive to employees. As on that, kindly try to make the ID Cards more attractive. Might be this will help you out.

ID cards are used to prevent an unauthorized persons to enter in to organization!For our security purpose i.e) Data Security where Ex ID tags are differed according to the job profiles in organization Ex:Visitors ID Card’s it must be tagged with RED Colour ,Employee ID card Tagged with Blue colour! For Security and house keeping people Yellow colour! These three category people stays in organization so we can identify the person according to the tags very easily. And one more example if employees stay in office long mid night hours Police may interrogate him while he/she in return in midnights from office where ID card is a good purpose to show that he engaged in office works! Employee Id cards mostly useful for opening bank accounts/Mobile connection/etc...Where ID card has much more power it markets about organization.

See basically we are the management people who creates the value of anything in the organisation if anyone of the staff ask you the counter question then you will have to make your rules strong to implement.

1. without wearing ID Card there should be no entry in the org
2. without wearing ID Card there should be a some financial penalty
3. there should also be a some promotional losses like red ink to avoid and contravention of the rules in the employment record.
4. you can make the some hard rules like ministry/hospitals there you cant enter without those id or gate pass

we make the importance of the documents not who are working for us.
once rule make then no body will break it.

My advice is Change your security Gaurd for one week.New gaurd will not Entertain these employees untill they will not wear or bring ID to Show him.

The problem which you are facing is same with our organisation people.

In every company whether big or small their exist such type of elements who find a mental satisfaction while breaking such rules.

But we tell them is it shows their professional approach and belonginess to the company.Moreover it helps in image building as well.

As prvailing in our company we impose a nominal fine on per day basis to persons who do not abide by such practice.
