Default Personnel Files/ Employee Records - What is Required?

Hi everyone!

First, I'd like to thank everyone who posts here, I've been reading for awhile and have learned a lot.

I was wondering if you could help me out, we are revamping our Personnel files for India and a few other countries, and wanted to know:

1) What employee records are required by law in india?

2) What are other useful things to include in a personnel file?

We may be switching our HRIS to make sure it has everything needed globally, currently we have the United States, Europe, and China taken care of, but need to make sure we are in compliance in India, Australia, Canada, and Japan.

So we're starting with India.

However, if anyone has information on global records requirements for personnel, that would be awesome.

Best regards,
Mirrored

I had heard that in India it was best to have an employment contract, is this true?
