Hi, I think ICFAI is a deemed university and can conduct its own MBA programs..... Atleast the Hyderabad one can. and its proved to be one of the best B-schools.

There is no so called "Deemed University" overseas or in the whole world. This fraudulent university business only exist in India. If it means deemed that means it is not university but suppose to be and not actually. So called "Deemed University" are not recognised abroad because they are not parallel to government approved University Grant Commission whic is statutory body constituted under constitution of India has empowered to recognised Universities. THese so called fradulent Deemed University do not issue Degree because only UGC approved universities are authorised to issue Degreees so they issus DIPLOMA not DEGREES even for Post Graduation They issue DIPLOMA not DEGREE. If you go for overseas advance education this so called deemed university degree is not validated as equivalent education with overseas education because its treated as kind of informal education system outside Government authorised and approved University system. Hi Deepthi, Some degrees given by deemed universities are approved by UGC but not by AICTE. However ICFAI stands out as a premier degree in private sectors. This MBA doesn't stand any value as a master's degree in Gov. Sectors. There are other degrees also that are treated on par with the regular AICTE approved degrees but not necessarily accepted in gov. sectors. Some examples are B.S from BITs, BS from Manipal University, Sikkim Manipal University etc. Regardless of what degree you obtain, utilising the opportunity during the studies and capitalize on them for further growth in corporate ladder is more important than its recognition. Hi Prasanna Getting masters degree from a non recognized institute or university for professional field is acceptable. But given the current trend or selection procedure, a person aspiring to join academics necessarily has to have a masters from a statutory institute or university. even the deemed universities have a selection criteria of degree from statutory institutes all other considerations being equal. It was nice to read about ICFAI's affiliation with AICTE. Let me introduce myself first. I have myself done MBA from ICFAI Bangalore and I am Gold Medallist for being topper of my MBA batch ( http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...64204155&hl=en ). I had 5 years of prior work experience and worked as software developer and Finance Executive before joining the MBA. Tell me one thing dear friends.. What percentage of students would want to join government organization after completing an MBA from premier institute like IIM, ICFAI or any other for that matter?? If your answer is less than 5% than why to bother whether some institute is AICTE recognised or not so far it is giving you good placement in MNCs and abroad. ICFAI is well recognised brand in India as well as abroad. It has opened its own study centres in Australia and Dubai. ICFAI is properly recognised by UGC and DEC (see my post at Ekalavyas.com (BETA) • View topic - Is ICFAI affiliated to UGC or DEC ? ) and can offer MBA degrees (not PGDBA diplomas). My personal view is that if we have 10 regulatory bodies in India like UGC, DEC, AICTE and if some institute is affiliated to most of them then we should not always look at negative aspect only. I am an software Engineer and I am perceving MBA from ICFAI. Till now I have already paid full fees and I am not facing any kind of problems or regret. The only thing I was worried about is its approval from UGC and DEC (Universities dont require approval from AICTE only institutes need that). Sirs\Madams, Point is Universities like these make fool of people with help of corrupt officers. However, we must accept irrespective of failure of system we indians have been able to come up with not only good institutes but also good brains ( dont forget IIMs, IITs, D.U, B.H.U, J.N.U). So we shall try to make this system good. If we dont follow a system anyone with money will standup and form their university. However people thinking of placement as criteria, if you have good contacts you can get placements in MNC irrespective of quality. If someone is looking for good distance education (MBA,MCA) please go to IGNOU but there will be entrance.
