You got a Training and Placement Officer
Hi, my name is Saurav Das and I am a former Training and Placement Officer with an educational group under the Univ. of Mumbai.

As the Head of Campus Recruitments, I have recruited more than 10,000 students in various companies across all verticals / industries in Mumbai.

I have 'specialised' in joint campus recruitment drives / pooled initiatives for companies which are the very best in their respective sectors which is how I attracted large companies to our new college.

I am in Bangalore now, resigned from a rather small and insignificant skills testing and assessment company which wasn't going anywhere, as "Manager - Sales and Marketing", and am free to join any college / B-School, immediately in Bangalore / Mumbai / Navi Mumbai.

Regards,
Saurav Das

Hi Dharma,

Congratulations on joining a college which at any time gives you the freedom to pursue other things in life and bask in the sun given the holidays and vacations.

To start off, you need to get your act together: (1) get the student data in excel sheet first which in a way will help the students to know you as well and vice-versa; (2) NETWORK with other colleges and TPOs in your area; (3) companies will be choosy as to which campus they visit now so you need to get in touch with as many companies as possible; (4) in your spare time, visit the sites of as many engg colleges in your location as possible and check the data on campus placements... the companies mentioned there are the recruiters in general; (5) some colleges might just do some name-droppping so I suggest that you interact with the TPOs of those colleges and UNDERSTAND the system and the processes they follow. (6) spend time with the students as it is important you have them in your grip.

All the best and be in touch....

Good times ahead
Hi Abhinav,

Sorry for the delay in replying to your mail. I would suggest a couple of things: (1) read the Career and Corporate page of ET daily which will give you an idea of what's happening in the industry. (2) there is an agency in Delhi called Bharti Global (BHARTI GLOBAL SERVICES) who can probably help you in finding some companies.... they are into campus placements. You can give my reference and tell him that I am from Mumbai and spoke to him a few days back; (3) top IT companies normally empanel colleges so try talking to your Principal and get the college empanelled by getting the forms from the HRD o various IT companies.

Need any more guidance, message me.

Dear Sandy,

Reinventing ourselves is personal by nature and varies from person to person. HOwever as TPOs we can focus on training students now. That's something which we can look at focusing on.
