Hi,

There cannot be one specific answer to your questions as HR in every organisation differs from the other. Further one need not go in for the entire HRIS software. They could go in part according to their needs.

However if I were to answer in a one liner: For streamlining the HR process of an organisation to bring about greater efficiency.

Regards,

Imran.

Default Analysis of Need for HRIS

Dear abhis410,

The use and scope of HRIS in an organization depends on the level of growth of its HR Department. In most cases it does not depend on the size of the organization but on the vision of the leadership about its Human Resources. There is wonderful article on this topic by Tushar Bhatia, Chief Architect of EmpXtrack on their blog Talent Junction that answers your question better. You can read this article on the below link:

Summary of the Article:
Quote:
HR Function Growth Path: As the organizations mature, HR practices also mature . The HR function is at three different states in its evolution cycle where it starts as a Business Function, becomes a Business Partner and then a Strategic Partner. Click here to read the complete article..

HR departments are models of versatility. Their responsibilities include everything from answering employee questions about health benefits and vacation time and sorting out the process of employee reviews, to high level long term planning and organization of training, employee retention plans, management development and other important issues that fundamentally affect the productivity and success of the organizations.

Most organizations would agree that they would greatly benefit from their HR professionals having the opportunity to focus more of their energies on strategic issues, as is the case in larger organizations.

However, in reality, the majority of their HR department’s time and resources is consistently taken up with day-to-day tactical issues—up to 5 hours of every eight hour day, some studies suggest. For larger companies, the technology to automate HR and benefits issues has been available for some time, and is widely used. However the resources and infrastructure required to install and maintain one of these large and complex systems has made the cost of entry prohibitive, both financially and technologically, for companies in the mid tier. As a result, only about 15% of mid-tier companies have yet adopted a Human Resource Management System (HRMS) solution.

Human Resources Management Systems (HRMS) is an integration of HRM and Information Systems (IS). HRMS or Human Resource Management System helps HR managers perform HR functions in a more effective and systematic way using technology. It is the system used to acquire, store, manipulate, analyze, retrieve, and distribute pertinent information regarding an organization's human resources. A human resource management system (HRMS) is a system used to acquire, store, manipulate, analyze, retrieve, and distribute pertinent information about an organization's human resources.

Hope this answers your question !

Hi Shilpa,

For everybody's information I would like to say that the days of maintaining costly hardware and software are over. The SaaS model (technically called Software as a Service) allows you to use any software (at least HR) by merely having access to Internet. You only pay the RENT of the software for the number of people you want to use your software for multiplied by time you use it for. So if the vendor does not provide support, you can switch it. The software use can cost you something around 50-100 Rs. Per Month Per Employee. Compare it to salaries..Looks peanuts na...

I hope you should have a look at EmpXtrack - Human Capital and Talent Management software as an example.
