There is a real divide of opinion amongst experts about whether Resume Templates are a help or a hindrance in successfully applying for a job.
I am making a set of templates available for free download to CiteHR readers for the month of August 2006 only, (download from
http://www.progressenterprise.com) because I am hopeful that you will be willing to provide some feedback on the templates.
The site provides templates in 3 categories ("early career", "experienced" and "senior management/executive"). The "experienced" templates can be downloaded free.
It is my view that if an applicant slavishly follows the template then the result will be an uninspiring, mass-produced and not very effective result. However, if the templates are capable of being modified to suit individual needs or industry requirements, there is nothing to stop the applicant from demonstrating superior skills and quality presentation.
In terms of reading a bit about the variety of expert opinion, the sites represented in advertising on the page give a good cross-section of views!!
I'd love your feedback as you get the chance to experiment with the Resume Templates, bearing in mind these are for people in a range of general occupations, with a few years of experience, but not yet operating at a strategic level.
Thanks in anticipation
