Default Dear Seniors, Pls. help

Dear Seniors,

I have joined in a small sized IT company 7 Months back in HR Department. I am the only one in my department. After joining I involved myself in various processes. The processes that I have strealined were Recruitment, Joining, preparing Employee handbook, email culture, Communication Practices in which I have organised Presentation Series, Group Discussions and a Formal training on English speaking and some CSR activies in Office. About 2 Months back when I asked my Director to give feedback on my Performance, he gave a very good response but now when my appraisal is due, he told me that I just do whatever I have been told to and do not take initiatives. I was stunned after hearing this and now my morale is very low and not finding myself concentrating on my Work.
His major stress was on building high standard corporate culture, Good communication skills of employees and more productivity. I want to know what kind of initaives can I take for the above.
Pls. help me in this as I want to prove myself very good to the company.

Thanks,
Swati

Swati,

Glad to hear that you have done lot of challenging things. According to me recognition is very important. An Employer who is unable to recognize the work done by you what's the use of working there. Complete 1 year and search some better opportunity. Dont be emotional with the Company. Better think on your Career.

Thanks - Srinath

Hello Swati,

Let me appraise first thing first your Boss is cynical and he hardly knows what is performance measurement of HR professional. Most of the business organizations in India see performance in the context of revenue generating potential of particular position/profesion in the organization. You are not in to the profession where you can establish the direct relationship between your job and company profits.
But HR is an important function which keeps your business growing and sustain just by attracting, retaining and rewarding the talented personnel in the organization. If fail in that mission your organizsation results will be negative. People work for salary but its not salary that alone at motivates people to work.
Your boss needs to assess how your activities are important for his business and proper weightage shall be given to this function because it deals with intangible intellectual assets and building capabilities through developing competancies.

Or else you are wasting time with worng people who are opportunitist exploiting your need for sticking to job.

Regards

sawant
