Hi Mathew,

I totally agree with you. That is why, a constant review and measuring performance is necessary. In certain organisations, though the team leader would have rated his member correctly, the final rating will be left to the HR and adequate reasoning will not be given for the reduction in rating.

An appraisal to be just, it is necessary that there should be a system of measuring performance and the rating of the concerned superior should be final unless otherwise it is biased.

It again boils back to the issue that the Management should have a thorough opinion on the team leader.

In some cases, the negative opinion the Management has on a team leader affects the concerned members. How do we stop this?

This is a vicious circle and unless there is 100% performance, discipline and loyalty right from top to bottom, justified appraisal is a dream!!!!
