Re: Post ur views on "Reservations in Pvt Sector Organi Hi Satish,
A very relevant topic yet controversial.... but as professionals I believe we have to give an unbiased view on the subject.
I don't favour reservations of any kind in private sector organisation. The reasons can be put down as under:
1. Primarily, I have never asked even a single candidate his caste or religion, because it never mattered to me what caste he was. I rather have looked at the performance and the candidate's ability to mix with the culture. If reservations are implemented in our sector I believe I would be forced to make biased decisions in taking people.
2. Even if I have to take a person based on his caste, what is the guarantee that he will perform. What is the legislation to support a person from a reserved category? Who will bear the cost of underperformance?
3. There can be lots of noise in the system once we see people as reserved and unreserved. Till now, we had only seen performers, excellent performers etc. We might be forced to see people as reserved and unreserved which can be detrimental to a positive work culture.
I was surprised to see many top industrialists supporting the reservation view point. I believe even Sunil Mittal has said there is no harm in trying this out. I can only see such statements as politically motivated rather than a business statement. The politicians as ever are only bothered about the vote bank and not about the growth of the economy and thereby that of the business.
These are my view points. I welcome the views of other members so that I can broaden my perspective on the subject.
