Default Employee retention(situation)

Dear Friends,

I am working as an HR generalist in an MNC company...... here till the year end everything was going very well, but suddenly my MD decided to replace the general manager - finance who was not performing well. His decision was correct , but the way of replacement was not.
One fine morning we had a new GM joining as Finance head & a message from MD that the old GM has been replaced. Though the old Gm was given the opportunity to suffice the notice period of the company but it was a shocking news to all staff... due to this the job security & the morale of the employees have gone down adding to this our last years increment was just fair not up to the mark. I don’t understand as to how to retain the employees now. They are putting down papers one by one. Can you suggest some options that can help me retain the same confidence as they had earlier in the company.

Also, please suggest few ways of Employee Retention programme.

Default Build Morale

Dear Sonia

Greetings.

Employee retention is a big task to be handled by any HR Manager. Your company case is a typical example of high handedness of your CEO. This is not correct. To build a good ethics and boost up morale you have to do some safeguarding exercises.

1. You raise alarm to your top brass that people are leaving because of insecurity and hence a circular has to be exihibited to build confidence among people.

2. To take confidence of people by regular interaction with them and explaining the way how things would have done instead of how things happened in this context.

3. It requires lot of leadership, communication and motivation qualities that a HR Manager must possess in this situation.

Cheers

Dear Mr. D.Kumar,

Thank you for your reply.

I have done all the above.
Most of our employees & managers are of young or Middle aged , therefore the rapport with the employees is very good. They know what the situation is & understand the same. My MD is a japanese , we every now and then try & make him understand the work culture in India.

I hope i can bring back the motivation which was there in my employees some 6 months back.

Thanks once again.
