Hello Everybody,
I am sure a lot of you in this group have heard about I’m OK, You’re OK by Thomas Harris. This self-help book is estimated to have sold over 15 million copies and has been translated into over dozen languages.
The impression is that, this is THE book on Transactional Analysis (TA). I too had this impression and thought I knew what TA was all about!!!!! I was completely off track!!!!!! True, that this book rests on the overall philosophy of TA – We are all OK.
But, TA is much more than this. Along with the OK-OK concept, it is a framework for personality, communication and child development. For me, it has been a powerful tool for understanding ME and where I come from, understanding relationships and communication.
I strongly believe that knowledge of TA will help us to evolve into more powerful individuals and professionals. I am still in the learning process and I hope that this triggers an interest in a few more from this group.

Transactional Analysis, there is no short answer to this but, suffice to say, it does exactly what it says in its literal meaning. It is a method of analysing transactions and seeing why they go wrong or right.

A transaction is really what happens between two people (a meeting, a conversation, a long time relationship) and the outcome of this, be it satisfactory or unsatisfactory. Most transactions between two people are fine but, now and again, the transaction goes wrong and we don’t get the outcome we were after. Transactional Analysis (or TA) gives you one way of seeing why. Of course, this is only one type of analysis and TA is not a cure-all for transactions that don’t work... but it can be a useful way of sorting out many of them.

Keep it up Geetha, I am sure there is much more to learn.

Cheers !

Thank You Sajid for the prompt and encouraging reply. Yes, it is not a cure-all for everything but a simple and practical way of 'analyzing transactions'.
I would like to add that the process of analyzing/making an effort to understand transactions actually results in better understanding of self thus improving quality of transactions from oneself.
