Please Help Me Find A Solution
HI;

I am working in an IT Product based company and we are looking for some skill sets like J2me, linux , I take the pain of scheduling the interviews, reminding the candidates and on the day of interview it is a poor show. This is affecting my work and even my boss has raised question on why the candidates are not turning up for interviews.

This saturday I have scheduled 25 interviews. I got confirmation from 16 and only 5 turned up.

I am in a very bad situation as I need to fill this position ASAP.

Please seniors help me find a solution for the same.

Regards;

Suma

Hey Suma:

What you can do is simply increase the pool of candidates that you schedule interview for. This means added burden on you but in the long run it will fetch you good returns. For instance you should have started off your search with contacting 100 prospective candidates and then your final turn up ration would have been around 25 candidates to choose from.

From the next time on you could go for referrals made by the present employees as they are a more credible means.

Hi,

It is not only your experience it is a general problem faced by many HR Managers. I also have been through it many times but did not have any other alternative but to tolerate it.

Recent global job opporutines have made contenders such a careless that they don't care about their own commitment.

On contacting them, they take interest in the job offered by us, they understand the profile and the salary being offered, in some cases they take a day to think and then they show their interest for the post. They agree to appear for the interview on the schedule date. They also acknowledge to our reminder calls on the day of interview and then the DON'T APPEAR. Not only that they don't care to make a phone call to explain the reason why they could not appear.

This is sheer carelessness and unacceptable.

This can be straighten out only if entire HR communities join hands. Why can't we prepare a black-list of such candidates and keep on circulating amongst us. By doing so we can at least save the time of other HR Manager and also this will put them on track, they will think twice before making any such FALSE commitment.

These are my personal views and it is not necessary that all will agree with it.
