everyone is disappointed because of this delay, he is even not explaining the reson behind this....he jst appologising..many of the employees r now start searching other job and some of them has already left the organization..i dont know hw to retain them..
i m nt understanding wat should i do??? should i try to retain them if yes thn hw??? should i also try to find a new job?? but its my first job and i spend only 5 mnths here, if i change my job thn it will give bad impact on my career...

you wont be able to retain them, unless ur employer also is interested in the same and discusses the probelm and other things in detail with you...in my opinion its all hapenning coz of the slump in IT industry due to fall in rate of dollar..my friend who is HR in an IT Co., has the same problem!
But i think condition is not as bad/worse as before..there are chances of it stabilising, you shouldnt leave just yet unless there is any nasty trouble ur facing.. i think you should highlight ur concern regarding attrition to the employer once.(im sure he is also aware of the present circumstances)..if he doesnt seem to bother than u have no option but to be a silent spectator!

Being a HR you should have the idea where your ORG is going. But this is possible if your top mgmt also think that way. so this is actually driven by the culture and theme for the org.
Do justis to your job with the best effort putting in to streamline the things over there and be happy.

Hi Urvashi Verma ,
Did you talk to your mgmt in detail or i would like to know what is your payroll process and payroll dates?

Good HR is the one who would assess the situation and if the real situation is the fact that company is drowning then....what and how to do things is left in your hands ...Just think in terms of resource utilization front...if company is not doing good..is this because of no projects or because mismatch of projects with resources? do this excercise seriously then suggest solutions to bring things to order....

"It is always better to feed 10 rather then to keep 100 people starving".... hope you understand.

I am still sure you quitting is no solution before you put in ur 100% efforts.

if nothing works out then ...its all ur decision and the mgmt....its your call...but for sure, i feel there are better solutions to handle this.

Dont panic as yet. From what i could gather,u are still worried about the organisation when most people would desert. This speaks of two good qualities, coolness under stress and loyalty to the org.Good, Iam impressed,u are a good leader in the making!Coming back to the problem, try and find out what exactly ails the company. What exactly is the reason for this financial stress? As one of the members pointed out,it could simply be the current recession. It is essential to know what is wrong.Once u know that,u can explain it to those employees leaving(that it is a temporary phase). If it is more serious, then u cannot stop the exodus,u may as well consider ur own exit plans.Take a cool appraisal, and a considered decision.Best of luck

Hi Urvashi,
As a HR person you need to understand a clear picture of the existing situation of your company, whats the challenge that is being faced by your company and ofcourse you have all the rights to do that, which other stream members cannot do.
If it is a short term challenge you can very well convince your employees and you can feel convinced. Salary is one of the basics of everyone and your employer got to understand the importance of paying it on time and the consequences of not doing it.
If you understand that the problem would lasts for a long time, you cannot stunt your career and career of others. As Manu rightly said it shows your goodness to retain the employees at this crucial situation, but payment of Salary is something that is not under your control.

Hi,
Salary is being paid though bit late ,others perks have been curtailed, situation does not seem to be too bad to desert the ship. Get all the facts rights and in an objective fashion before you call it quit or advise others to follow suit. Well, there have been instances in the past , that too in top companies when employees worked on half of the pay but every thing depends upon organisation culture(Dolphin culture or Shark culture) and how much loyalty you all have for the company . I personally feel that HR should take the lead because you have to protect the interest of employees and ensure that interest of other stakeholders are also protected. Dollar has again appreciated so that should not be real issue, if that was the issue earlier.Finance people can tell you the real problem if it is not a case of compartmentalisation between various deptt. Take a considered decision after all the inputs are available. Thanks for the post.

Hello Urvashi,
You need to speak to the boss and get exact details about pay etc.
Either you give money to your employees or give them some assurance. If you can give neither then how would people stay back.
HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY in this situation. the boss should address all the employees and give them the correct picture instead of keeping people in the dark.
You do your best but don't take things personally since you are only a medium between your boss and employees.

hi...
Thanks for all ur suggestions....
i had a talk with my boss, ask about the reason behined this delay...
he said " i dnt want to delay their salaries too. I dnt feel good when this kind of situations arise, this is happening becoz of some problem in transaction of money from US to India" (as our headoffice is in Florida)
This is th reson he told to me but the employees are nt satisfied with this answer.
they are thinking this all excusses are fake...
They are not even properly doing their work now...
Its a difficult condition for me to retain them or to motivate them...

Dear Urvashi,
Every company has ups and downs. Now its your company turn. And that too for past 2months only, with that never come to an conclusion. Explain the situation to your employee's that its an temporary issue. If it exceeds more than 4-5months, then you people should think about it.
Have a nice day
