Post Please help my friend

Hi All,
Kindly help my friend out in taking a decision . .He
is still in dilemma ...

He has completed his BE in ECE in 2007 and working
as a junior BDE in an IT company for past 2 months.
He has planned to switch on his career to HR field.
Some recommended him to persue MBA in HR
in distance Edu. Would persuing a degree in MBA (HR)
make him a HR in a company, considering the fact that
he is working as a Junior BDE??? Would dis experience
be considered ???
Would this be a rite choice to go with this plot or
anyother choice for him to become an HR? He possess through
knowledge abt HR realted works ,excellent
communication skills and all other stuffs what a HR is required
but

Plz suggest him to make a future ....

Thnx & Regards,
Vinu

Hi vinod,

Respect your friends interest in exploring a career in Hr, but I would like to know if this is based purely on an assumption that he beleives he will be better in HR for he has a technical background......it is not uncommon for a technical person to switch into the administrative job but that takes a couple of years dealing with and understanding people and business processes.

Today if he would like to take a complete switch he needs to take up a fulltime PG degree in HR from a reputed college which would also give him the platform for placements in the Hr field. his 2 months experience would not matter then since he would be a fresher in the field of HR

A distance education course is helpful for an experienced HR professional who would like to apply for higher positions / different Hr verticals etc....rather than give an entry for a fresher into the Hr field.

Another option for your friend could be to continue in the present organisation as a Technical person and explore opportunities which would required him to be involved in more man management activities and gradually move into the administrative roles like team manager / project manager etc...but that would take a couple of years....although a BE Grad with an HR degree is preffered in many IT companies especially in the field of recruitments, because they understand technical terminologies.

Regards
Preeti
