Hi all greetings from ruah i run a business of electrical contractor & for my employees i pay them the correct ot but they are not satisfied and they ask for more ot payments can anyone suggest the legal and exact ot calculations as per karnataka shops & establishment act. so i can show it them and speak. suggestions please.

Calculation of ot
Dear senoirs can any of you help me on how to calculate ot of the employees. a present: we have a cards system where in the employees write their details of in & out timing with signature everyday and this is submitted to hr at the end of every month. based on this the extra hours worked are taken as ot. is there any better way of recording the ot ? can anyone help me with a better way or may be a simple solution to this.? regards fay

Pf issue
We have manpower contractor and we are paying daily wage and if ot is applicable ot is also paidlike 310 per day wage then ot rate will be 310/8 38.75 per hour. esi & pf we are paying on both duty and ot but the contractor has not paying to epfo only on duty amount only paying. is it correct..? and what type action will be take by them. please suggest
Over time - people started waiting on purpose to avail ot
Dear all i want to understand over time policy execution process. in our company we have declared over time allowed maximum 2 hours a day on approval by the heads if the work to be essential to wait back and finish the same day and then they are allowed to get ot 1.5 times. i want to if a person is waiting some day late if there is a client visit and they have to wait until client dinner will it be counted as ot or not according to me it is part of their role and should not be considered as ot moreover as per our policy only 2 hours ot is allowed and client dinner gets late so if an employee asks me for ot what is the valid answer for it. sameway if a shipping dept executive waits back for shipment or container stuffing a day for documentation which is part of the role will it be counted as ot. the reason to have ot work defined is when we just declared ot people started waiting on purpose to avail ot even if there was no imp work to be done for the day hence we made a rule for only imp work but now the clash is the routine work that forms part of their role people ask ot for that too which i feel is not correct. if a dept is running with lot of pending work which they couldnt do and wait for that will this be ot? kindly share your views what kind of work can be categorize under ot requirement in this scenario. vaishali
