How the Gratuity is valued if you want to know the CTC whether it forms a part of the same or not.5. Dear,

I have gone through comments of many which has prompted me to contribute my views on this subject .

Before I extend these views I think it is necessary to understand terms used and the logic behind them . We use the term "CTC" means Cost to Company which in other works be called as contractual obligation on part of the employer to an employee to bear every year . If Gratuity is suggested to be part of CTC shall mean that it has to be paid by the employer on cessation of employment . Please examine whether it is realy paid if any employee leave the company before completion of 5 years service . If yes , the debate must stop and we must include Gratuity in CTC but if not you need to review your stand and the position .

In my opinion, Gratuity is deferred payment which accrue only after 5 years of service and is leaglly payable . If this is to be apid only after 5 years , it would be premature to include in CTC ( Annual Head ) .

You may evalute this part and accordingly take or leave as to wish.

Thanks

Mdiclaim Insurance Premium in CTC Calculation
Gratuity we add in CTC. Recently we devised a structured Mediclaim Insurance for our employee. The sum insurd are based on staff's grade & designation. We want to add this in CTC from this month. Please let me know how to calculate this in month's CTC component. E.g. my Meicmail sum insured is Rs.3 Lacs. Please let me what will be the figure in monthly CTC and how to calculate the same.

Thanks & regards,

Hi Pari,Employee benefits such as mediclaim premimum and gratuity usually included in calculating CTC. Because all the benefits has some value attached to it. Almost all the companies practicing this.Regards,SPS

Gratuity can never be the part of CTC for the purpose of negotiating the salary with the employee, but for the understanding of an organisation you may calculate the same. For example, if an employee says he wants 10k as his CTC this would not include the gratuity, but for internal calculations you can have this calculation done.As gratuity is a benefit an employee gets after working of 5 yrs.

As far as the gratuity is concerned its 4.81% of the basic salary or 1.68% of the gross ctc in my organisation.
