'Boss is always right' concept has gone. you don't think that how boss behave with you or how his/her nature is. think only one thing that what knowledge he/she possess and think whether that knowledge may be useful to you, than react. You would find your boss good. because your attitude have changed.

But keep mind if you think that your boss does not have knowledge enough for you, than don't respect him/her, just do your best.

A good boss obviously understands when to lead and when to act as a mentor.

I DISAGREE WITH YOU THAT BOSSES ARE NOT GOOD GUIDES OR FRIEND.MY case is totally different I have got a boss who cares like a parent ,educate me like a teacher ,protect like a shield and play with me like a child .

Hence its not like that.Bosses are not always so.Bosses can be like my boss

The positon that bosses hold, can't afford to be your friend, it all depends on how you perform in the organisation. If you've a consistent performance they will at times treat you as a friend but this they can't continue forever as it might feel them a sense of insecurity...

Hello,

I agreed that all bosses are not our mentor, guide or friend but on the other side I do agreed that there are boses who are really your mentor, guide, and they are very good friend aswell. Its depends upon person to person, its depend upon there individality. In most of the cases we are much more capable than our bosses but still boss is boss. There are cases where you find that some people are not successful in some of there jobs just because there boss is not good. I am working with HR dep of an Insurance co. where I find there lots of cases where people quit there job just because they were not comfortable with there boss. But on the other side of picture we have bosses who do not let the people go from there team any how wheather they are performing or not, but yes ofcourse ratio is low its 1:10 ratio. So its depend upon your luck what kind of boss you are getting. But still I'll say your capability and ability aswell as learinig should not be dependent on your boss. Make them realise time to time that you are capable enough to learn through other channels aswell.

Bossess are not always Bossy.

In my career of 14 years I have worked under Bossess who have been very helpful and able guides and mentors. They have thought me the most important thing and that is man management, which you never learn in business schools.

When we get down to practical working, the approach has to be different. we cannot simply follow rules & regulations without being human. This is what i have been thought by all my bosses.

My Boss from my previous company was sometimes so rude and rough that I use to be disturbed almost everyday. He was always behid my back to improve my writing skills. It was not that I was bad in writing, but then he wanted me to improve it further. His tag line, "Touch the Heart". This is were I was lacking and he pushed me to be what i am today.

Today in my current organisation, I am considered to be a good communicator. This is only because of my Boss.

I think, we have to agree that if all of them are good everytime, then there will never be a learning process and we will remain the same through out without changing.

Hi George!

In my opinion, Bosses are not ONLY BOSSES! they are our mentor, leader, teacher, guide for our carrier. We learned and enrich ourselves with the knowledge of our boss.

But at the end they are our Boss and they need to ensure that their subordinates are productive and accompalishing the task alocated to them.

Hence i would say, Bosses are bosses and also friend, mentor & Guide; BUT THEY ARE BOSS!

Hi George,

Its very nice topic for discuss abt the bosses.....No way all the bosses are bosses there are some bosses who be a friendly and good guider also and we can learn lots of managerial skills..
Some bosses are really show their power cos the position like that.......
I've crossed many bosses in my careers...Not all are same.....Some internal / departmantal probs they showed their anger n ego's to their executives....

SO SOME BOSSES ARE BOSSES AND SOME ARE FRIENDLY AND GUIDER....

Hi,
During our course of professional life, we have come across different types of bosses. These bosses are of different attitudes, approaches, ideals and way of working. Many a times boss wants to boss only and will not become a good guide or a friends. The reason is very simple - It is fear! Fear of overtaking by his subordiate.

But the other category of bosses who actually become good guide, wellwisher, friend and a mentor. These are not only bossess, they are leaders also. But for a person to qualify to get these from his boss, he should be honest, hardworking with zeal to learn, punctual and have some vision in his life to come up and gratitude. What a Boss will do if the person is a Dead Horse!? If you have interest to learn, achieve the goals of the company, ready to work hard, use your brains then no boss will be just your boss he will be everything for you!! It is for the simple reason that anything and everything can not be done by boss himself and he needs a supporting hand. In gratitude, he will become your friend, philosopher and guide.
