Hi Everyone
i am working with a construction company in Pune. We are in the process of setting KRA's for every employee. But we do not have any mission statement.
As far as my understanding of setting KRA's is that formation of mission statement is the first step in this, wherein the mission statement becomes the KRA of the CEO/CMD of the company.
This mission statement gets broken down into individual KRAs and every single employee becomes a part of the team working towards the achievement of the mission or the KRA of the CEO/CMD.
Currently we are setting KRAs of every employee without having any mission statement. I don't think this is the right way of doing things. However my boss does not agree with me on this.
Can anyone explain me as to what should be the KRA setting process.
Thanks and Regards

Dear Preeti,
Its not necessary that u have the mission statement.Ur company is basically construction company,So u can also give this statement that " We want expand our business and become a leader in the market." Its helpful to motivate employee and also useful for the KRA.

PREETI,
THE MISSION STATEMENT IS AN USEFUL DOCUMENT.
IT HELPS THE COMPANY
-to set long term directives.
-to shape corporate objectives.
-to devise corporate strategies
etc etc.
BUT IT IS NOT COMPULSORY TO HAVE A MISSION STATEMENT.
==============================================
EVEN WITHOUT A MISSION,
YOU CAN WORKOUT THE KRAs, BUT YOU NEED
-corporate objectives.
-job description [ all individuals incuding ceo]
then design the KRAs FOR EACH DEPARTMENT,
then the KRAs FOR THE INDIVIDUALS
then the KPI FOR THE INDIVIDUALS [ kpi = key performance indicators].
THE ''JOB DESCRIPTION'' IS A MUST .
