Hello freind,

I can appreciate your concern. However designing a questionnaire will depend on what do you expect as an out-come. What specific information you want from different organisations in relation to their structure?

It may be worthwhile considering option of having interaction sessions wihout sending the standardised questionnaire on Org Structures.

You may include some of the questions as given below: [ these are only suggested few]:

How is the business segmentation done? Is there a functional organisation or project organisation? Is the strucure conventional with defined hierarchy or is it a matrix type organization? What are the success factors for company's business and how is the structure supporting these factors - for example is the cost leadership a success factor? if so how the structure ensuring the " Cost Leadership"? Is product leadership important ? if so how is focus on developing new products / services - how is structure supporting acquiring new technologies/product development. If customer intimacy is top most priority how are customer service/ customer care function organized.

What the measures of effectiveness of a structure? Sales revenue/ staff, Value addition/ staff or employee. How are the interface issues resolved? Has the structuer been able to support the growth of organization - has it been found effective for scalability? Has the structure been reviewed and updated?

Hope these sample questions help you study a few organizations for their structure.

You may also get information about structures from company websites.

Hi Atma,
I agree with Nishikant's suggestion. I wonder what course you are on and how many words project you have to submit? Have you done any literature survey to say why what you are doing is important? Have you seached the websites using Google or other search engines?
By seareching using your query as the search terms, I found this
organisation structure + questionnaire + survey - Google Search=
within that I found the following

The topic you have chosen is very wide and you need to narrow it down to make effective and efficient progress, especially as you have not much time.
Also, see the response I have given to others on project work, where I have attached a ppt file on Research Methodology.
Wish you all the best.
