Unhappy how do i get the split team to a strong team

Hi,

I am sure experts and most experienced would look into this topic. I am working with a team, which started off really well, it was really strong, the bond between team was going really good.. After the team alignment/ reporting changes happened, there is a major deviation. People who were interested to be part of team are now not willing to be part of the meeting. They are asking questions like why do we need to have this meeting is this giving any value add to us or process! The initial intention to have this forum was to have the team share their best practise, to share their views, concerns etc.. Many want to continue this.. but we need a way in which we can motivate people. I feel team building does not work as their thought on team building activities is a time waste, there will not be any participation. Need your help to analyze what can be done to get the team enthu back.

Regards,
Malavika

Hi Malavika,
For which team are you working ???? and if at all the team structure has been changed...do u really need their particpation in your present discussions???...why do they feel that a discussion wont add value to them???..Team building happens only when we know the actual reasons behind their negative thoughts reg a team!!!..and kindly send us how will they be benifitted in coming down to the discussion...so that we can discuss further.......

Dear Malavika

Have you heard about four stages of Team Formation?

They are called... FORMING, STORMING, NORMING and PERFORMING. Now they have added Adjourning as well. However if you see the four stages, you would appreciate that any good Team undergoes storming. Roles, indivdual interests, attitudes, aptitudes all play a very critical role here. But, the Facilitator at this stage should facilitate a good brain storming. Individual issues will be resolved. Some times you may need some external help

But dont look at it as spli team It is Team undergoing Storming Stage. If they realise that the common agenda is more critical than their indivdual agenda, norming will take place.
