| | Are women better managers than men? Companies with more women on their boards perform better than those with very few women, according to a study released last year by Catalyst, a New York-based consultant. During the four-year span of the reporting for the study, Fortune 500 companies with the highest percentage of women on their boards saw equity returns that were 53 percent higher than those companies with the fewest number of women on their boards. These companies saw a return on sales that was 42 percent higher than those companies with the least number of women. Similarly, they saw a return on invested capital that was at least 66 percent higher. The above information is theoritical, so I would like to solicit views from all of u based on ur experiences. Thanx

| | Hi, 1. To explain the above point, here is an example: The man and woman are both going out to buy jacket: - The man goes straight to the store, and gets the first jacket he finds. - The woman goes to 50 stores and finds nothing she likes. - The woman comes home with lemonade and a cookie. - She is pleased because she didn't spend money on something she didn't want. - As a bonus she got a delicious lemonade and cookie for only a dollar. - The man is pleased because he accomplished his task of getting a jacket. A woman is bound to take more pride in just about any job. The relational thought could be the fact that Christmas is right around the corner and she needs more money for gifts. A man would consider this just another job, and work if it's the only thing available at the time. His task may have been to simply become employed, but in most cases this job is not what he really wanted. At least he completed the task at hand. Conclusion - The woman really likes her job, and her performance level will show it. The man does a *sub-par* job because his next 'task' is to "Get out of this dead end job". 2. Managerial capabilities are inherent in women, for example:
- They manage a baby (new born) even though the husband is out for work
- They cook the food also (when the baby is bit older)
- She takes the child to school in morning, comes back, cooks and then goes to school to bring her child. Since child stays with mother most of the time, basic etiquette, mannerism, family values are inculcated in the young mind
3. She manages the finance of the family in a very professional manner,
4.They have high EQ than men, ok IQ maybe less than guys...but thats what makes them advanced...a good balance between IQ and EQ. So as we see that if a woman is able to manage so many things at home (multiple execution of jobs in record morning 6 to night 10 pm)...oh yes they can work harder than guys...... Women are mentally more strong, willing to take chances, manage finances better, & sensible.
Best Regards

| | Interesting statistics. May be too early to pronounce a judgement. But, one more observation of mine....
girls outbeat Boys in School Exams...in ranks as well as percentage of passes. This has been happening in India consistently for some years now.
I have never believed in gender preferences in employment. Women did not get so much of opportunities as they get now That may be one of the reasons that this is coming under scan now
Love bird, there is no controversy in this topic. Just somne observations on facts! Nothing beyond that

| | In India, even if they are better managers than men, women will continue to be less paid than men. Gender rules here. |

| | Although few women occupy top slots in corporate hierarchies, a new study shows that they may be more accomplished in negotiations than their masculine counterparts.
Yael Itzhaki of Tel Aviv University carried out simulations of business negotiations among management students at Ohio State University and in Israel.
“Women are more generous negotiators, better co-operators and are motivated to create win-win situations,” noted Itzhaki. Her PhD study indicated that in certain groupings, women offered better terms than men to reach an agreement. They were good at facilitating interaction between the parties, she says.
The simulations involved negotiating the terms of a joint venture, including the division of shares. The point was to examine how women behave in situations requiring cooperation and competition.
Itzhaki also discovered that men have begun to follow feminine strategies during negotiations.
“Women in mid-management positions are criticised for being too ‘cooperative’ and ‘compassionate’, so they don’t get promoted. Then men come in and use the same tactics women are criticised for.”
Itzhaki emphasises that there should be more women in top management jobs.

| | Hats Off for the woman analysis Hi Shree,
thats well said about woman, yes she is the ultimate worker, she is there thats why men are working. otherwise why do u think men will go out for work. hahahahaha, this is just the happiness iam showing when u are speaking so well about her. I appreciate the way u gave the reply. Woman sometimes cannot reach the career ladder, not that she did not wanted but because she managed multiple works at one time at home, so i wish that companies must give the chance to those woman also who wishes to join after a gap in work experience. and see that surely she takes the company to heights as she has taken her home, kids and society.
regards.
