Default Suggestion Required Urgently on Harassment

My friend has worked for his company for 7 years. About 3 years ago, they hired a new guy and made him project manager. Since they hired him it seems he's been trying to get rid of him. He's tried to fire him once, but when HR came to talk to him, they said he had no logical reason to fire him. He has since then bought a house in Delhi and he is waiting to move. He notified them months ago to tell them we would be moving so that he could train the person they brought in. Well, this past Tuesday, his boss starts screaming at him and the lead tech regarding their work and how they are not doing it right. He begins slamming things down, cursing at them and when he called the HR and she said he had no power to fire my friend. That night he could not sleep and was having chest pain. The next day his vision was blurry and the chest pain continued. We finally talked him into going to the doctor and they said he was stressed. They send us to the ER due to his Blood Pressure being so high and some other things they noticed. The ER doctor said it's all due to stress and wrote him off until that following Monday. He still can't sleep, is BP is still elevated and he can't relax! He's only 33, this should not be happening!

My question is this, is this ok for him to act like this to my friend? Is it ok for him to feel harassed on a daily basis? This is wrong! India has to have some laws about this. Can someone suggest a remedy????

Regards,

Rohit Lakhotia

It seems that the presence of your friend had misfitted the other guy who was hired by the boss. A superior can have heated exchanges with subordinates but he cannot fire so crually. Advise your friend to take a long leave and relax. There are provisions in Industrial Disputes Act to settle disputes between employees, but such Acts are confined to workers like employees and not like any managerial persons. Therefore, no need to go about legally. I think, it is well if your friend take leave and also try for a better chance in view of things taking a drastic turn.

Dear Rohit,

I second Madhu's suggestion.

First things First. Let your friend go on a nice long vacation so that he could relax. Coz, if he looses his health, nobody is gonna care for him, neither his boss nor his organization.

At work, the since the HR is aware of the situation, they would handle it in the best way possible.
