We are IT software co. with staff of 12 + this new joiner now 13. we wear jeans in week days too but till date we have never felt awkward even wearing capris on Saturdays. All girls and boys wears smart casuals on weekends and in weekdays smart formals or semi formals.
This girl wears salwar kameez also in so vulgar way that it looks so cheap we feel uncomfortable talking with our male staff. All my colleagues are unhappy with her dressing in fact she is giving chance to guys. which is so bad. She wears backless tops with capris or jeans combine this tops with transparent jackets from which every thing is visible, she wears salwaar kameez with horrible necks and backs are always open that too with sleeveless. It looks like she is doing this things purposely she doesn't take care about her exposed body parts. Very soon she will spoil our environment in office.
Being HR i was just watching till date as she is new joiner so i thought it doesn't look good to pinpoint her but now am thinking to drop her email without keeping copy to my director as he is a guy i feel awkward.
Please suggest me should i keep a copy or mark mail to all the girls or to her only. I know no one else needs this email but only i want her to stop wearing all this nonsense clothes at least in office she can wear anything in her personal time.

Please reply me asap so that i can drop her email.

Thanks

Hi Preeti,

won't elaborate much on this. First of all speak to her on a one-to-one basis and let her know that her dressing is not acceptable even if there is no written dress code. If she understands, well and good orelse I suggest that you should not only drop an email to the concerned lady but also her immediate senior and also to your director for sure. But there is no point circulating it to the other employees as it might affect the concerned female employee in a negative way. This should be treated as an official matter and you need not feel awkward at all to send a copy to your director.

Hi Preeti,
As a HR person I would like to share my view that generally every organization has a dress code. But incase it hasn't dress code so it doesn't mean that any dressing style is suitable. Well as a HR guy you have to be very strict towards your HR culture. So here would suggest you that at the time of Induction of an organization, you can explain the code of conduct for your origination and make a compulsion to follow it strictly.

Dear preeti

Its not a very tedious issue to tackle .Why do'nt u call a meeting with your superiors and head of the departments.Through discussion and consensus a policy could be designed.Mention the code of conduct norms and policies and get that circulated among all emplyees.I think that would resolve this problem.

All the best

Hi,

First of all, being a HR, try to implement a dress code policy, if u dont have one in place.
A dress code policy which is applicable for everyone in the company.
Then you can call her for a personal discussion and let her know her behaviour and the inconvenience, she is causing for her co-workers and warn her.

All the best.

Dear priti,

Dress code policy should be in place. Explain the person the importance of proper professional dressing...and carrying. You can conduct a awarness training where you can focus on this importance. Your this step will also help others not only her...
Bring this in notice of the higher management....and ask em to participate fo rthe impact...in case HR dept is newly formed...

All d best
Rajeev.
